Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of October 20, 1869

Overview

Siegfried's worsening rash and silence about the divorce sorely try Cosima and Richard, who decide to treat the present as the height of happiness rather than wait impatiently on the outside world. Richard worries that Cosima is exhausting herself to purchase happiness through sacrifice. Lusch's lesson, Judith's letter, and Don Quixote's Camacho episode close with Richard reading Cervantes as self-portrait.
