Sunday, February 11:

Still the same gray sky, but R. is able to work on his sketch; I have all sorts of things to do, children's carnival and writing letters.

In the evening a visit from our good Fischer, who was one of those helping the Rhinemaidens move, and he utterly breaks our hearts by telling us he is now in the employment of an Israelite, Herr Goldschmidt, author of The Seven Sins, who is sending him to Landau to rehearse his work there. R. remarks that all people having anything to do with him can be sure they will never find another worthwhile occupation.
