Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of November 17, 1876

Overview

Reflected on a week that had been rich in impressions but painfully poor in their own affairs. The day was spent among the Stanze and Loggia and with the Palazzo Doria, capped by a dramatic summerlike thunderstorm.

Content

Friday, November 17:

A week gone by, how rich, how great, how happy, and how poor, how trivial, how desolate! Poor, small, desolate in everything that concerns our own affairs, but how indescribably rich the strange impressions!

Today, morning and afternoon, the Stanza and Loggia, then showed R. the Palazzo Doria; thunderstorm, lightning, thunder, and rain as in summer.
