Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of October 14, 1876

Overview

Fidi felt slightly unwell, but the children still had lessons and she and R. kept consulting others about what should be done. She grew increasingly attached to the place itself, even as his worries continued to cast a shadow over everything.

Saturday, October 14:

Fidi slightly unwell. Lessons for the children. R. writes to Herr v. Radowitz, asking him for his opinion about what should be done. I give the children lessons; in the afternoon a walk.

This spot here is becoming increasingly dear to me: the paths between two walls with overhanging trees, the ravines and rocks, the olive trees, all has become so familiar to me, and I hear nothing upsetting here. Only R.'s worries can hardly be banished, even for a few moments, and so the horizon is clouded.
