Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of March 27, 1876

Overview

Domestic duties and the children’s lessons filled the morning. In the afternoon there was a drive to the theater, where the disorder there caused deep alarm and made readiness for the deadline seem nearly impossible. Later, reading Don Quixote offered a welcome contrast, especially the scene of Sancho’s advice about governing.

Content

Monday, March 27:

Domestic affairs and lessons for the children. Drove to the theater in the afternoon. Great consternation over the state of things there; it seems impossible that it can ever be ready in time!

In the evening read in Don Quixote the splendid scene in which he gives Sancho advice on his assumption of the governorship.
