Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of March 10, 1876

Overview

At last she received a funeral letter from Schure and one from Claire, though still without a usable address, so her loneliness remained unbroken. R. pushed through rehearsals and score work despite fatigue, recovering on a drive, and the evening brought Mimi's cheerful visit while the writer turned to Meister Eckhart and thoughts of Hans.

Content

Friday, March 10:

Letter from Schuré about the funeral. Also from Claire, but still without an address, so that I am not yet released from my state of complete isolation.

R. writes a page of his score, then has a “positioning rehearsal,” returns very tired; we go for a drive, which strengthens and refreshes him. He writes another page of the score, since time is pressing.

In the evening a visit from our charming Mimi. My time and my tired spirit filled with Meister Eckhart. I thought a lot about Hans.
