R. spent the day at his composition while I kept busy with the children, and Boni proved steady, helpful, and friendly. The evening ended with Don Quixote, and there was some encouraging news as the Weser-Zeitung editor offered to champion R. while Standhartner reported that Lohengrin could only be staged in Vienna on March 2.

R. at work on his composition, I busy with the children, Boni is working well, is willing and friendly; in the evening Don Quixote. The editor of the Weser-Zeitung announces his intention of becoming R.’s champion. Standhartner writes that Lohengrin will be possible in Vienna only on March 2.
