R. devoted himself to arranging Herr Unger’s Vienna debut, hoping to have him sing the third-act Siegfried scene with Frau Materna. At the same time, reports from Vienna were discouraging, since the subscription proceeds were not expected to yield royalty payments. Lunch with Frau v. Staff and Frau v. Kiinsberg was pleasant enough, and the evening again ended with Don Quixote.
Thursday, February 3:
R. makes preparations for Herr Unger's debut in Vienna. He wants him to sing the scene from the third act of Siegfried with Frau Materna. All we hear from Vienna is that royalty payments will not be paid on the subscription proceeds. Frau v. Staff and Frau v. Künsberg were with us at lunch.
