Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of November 19, 1875

Overview

R. remained buried in work and increasingly irritated, with Frau Grahn and the scenery both giving him trouble. The day was crowded with calls, and although he began the evening among the Donhoffs, Szechenyis, Count Apponyi, and Mihalovich in a sour mood, he eventually became remarkably warm and good-humored.

Content

Friday, November 19:

R. still very busy and very discontented; Frau Grahn causes him the most trouble, and none of the scenery is to his taste.

Many calls; in the evening the Donhoffs, the Szechenyis, Count Apponyi, Mihalovich. R. at first very ill-humored about the company, eventually extraordinarily friendly and cheerful.
