Overview

The day was taken up with letters, including a gift of E. Ollivier’s newest book, while rehearsals filled both morning and afternoon. Lunch proved unpleasant because of some of the company, but the evening brought Bayreuth locals together with the artists.

Sunday, July 4:

Wrote letters. Among other things received from E. Ollivier his latest book, Principes et conduites.

Always rehearsals, morning and afternoon; unfortunately lunch as well, with some of the company not very pleasant. In the evening Bayreuth people in addition to the flock of artists.
