Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of June 26, 1875

Overview

The day was consumed by household payments and the burdens of sustaining life here, which weighed heavily on me. There was still no certainty about the singers or accommodations, though Unger’s progress gave R. some pleasure, and the reading of Werder’s Hamlet lectures ended in near comedy.

Content

Saturday, June 26:

Domestic day, payments, during which the many requirements of our life here always fall heavy on my heart.

R., having had no reply concerning Frl. Tietjens (Sieglinde), sends a telegram and receives the reply that she will probably accept, so it is still unsettled. Herr Scaria inquires whether he might come later - various difficulties of this kind. But the singer Unger is giving R. pleasure.

In the evening we read Prof. Werder's Hamlet lectures, an almost comic impression! (In the afternoon with Frau Kolb.)
