Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of June 23, 1875

Overview

R. spent a miserable night weighed down by worries and distressing news about my father, though a telegram later brought some relief. The day was still dominated by practical anxieties over lodging and expenses, while Prof. Doepler’s costume sketches offered one of the few bright spots.

Wednesday, June 23:

R. had a very bad night; too many worries, and on top of that bad news of my father! ... Since the worry is almost more than I can bear, I send a telegram and am told that things are improving. In the afternoon R. tries out the desks! The custodian is demanding 600 florins a month for a rented apartment, a great worry about this problem, shared by nobody else here.

In the evening Prof. Doepler with sketches of the costumes; much in them very fine.
