Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of June 4, 1875

Overview

The day opened with errands for Fidi and a cheerful exchange with Chandon, whose delight at being asked to send champagne revived an old wartime friendship. R. continued with Gorres while I read Lichtenberg, wrote to the Minister of Trade on Berckefeld’s behalf, and finished the evening quietly with him in the garden.

Content

Friday, June 4:

Purchases for Fidi. R. receives a nice letter from his old friend Chandon; since the war we had abstained from champagne, now R. writes to order some, and his old friend replies very rapturously. R. is still reading Görres; I am reading Lichtenberg. I write to the Minister of Trade about Berckefeld. Spent the evening with R. in the garden.
