Diary Entry of May 21, 1875
R. spent much of the day answering letters, while the diarist managed birthday details and the children’s lessons. In the afternoon the family drove to Fantaisie in splendid weather and good spirits, and the night ended cheerfully with an unexpected visit from the Ritters, Franziska, and Alexander.

R. occupied with many letters, I with the birthday and lessons to the children as well. In the afternoon a family drive to the Fantaisie, splendid weather, good spirits. Returning home, surprised by the Ritters, Franziska and Alexander. Evening of cheerful conversation.
