Overview

A rehearsal goes well, with Scaria singing Hagen’s Watch in strikingly dark tones. While R. is too tired to do much, she makes social calls, sees Jauner, Prince Rudolph Liechtenstein, and Lenbach, and also visits Princess Hohenlohe with R. in the afternoon.

Wednesday, May 5:

Rehearsal. “Hagen’s Watch” very beautifully sung by Scaria, with a voice of the very darkest coloring.

R., tired, goes to bed; I pay some calls. After lunch, Herr Jauner and Prince Rudolph Liechtenstein. In the evening, friend Lenbach.

During the afternoon I visited Princess Hohenlohe in the Palais Augarten with R.
