Overview

The day began with letters to the children and a bit of shopping, then turned into a long social round. A reunion with Princess Hohenlohe after fifteen years left a curious impression, while R.’s rehearsal with Frau Materna and Glatz was marked by Materna’s brilliance and a quiet evening later with Marie D. and Lenbach.

Tuesday, February 23:

Wrote to the children (for the second time), did some shopping. Drove in the afternoon to Princess Hohenlohe’s; our first meeting in 15 years, curious impression. Then with charming Marie D. saw Prince Liechtenstein again. R. holds a rehearsal with Frau Materna and Glatz; the latter makes no very good impression, but Materna glorious.
