Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of January 12, 1875

Overview

R. remains so unwell that even small efforts leave him drenched in sweat, and the children again go skating with me. I spend time weighing whether the eldest girls should be sent to school during my absence, write to Mathilde Maier, and read Buckle while R. prefers Gfrorer.

Content

Tuesday, January 12:

R. still not well; he can scarcely do anything without breaking out in a violent sweat. The children were on the ice with me.

Much reflection as to whether I should send the eldest girls to school when I am away. Wrote to Mathilde Maier.

Read some more of Buckle’s History of Civilization; R. finds it little to his taste and continues with Gfrorer. Tried on a dress under R.’s supervision.
