Saturday, August 7:
Lusch writes to her father, I ink in, R. copies; busy, rainy morning. At midday a letter from the cook in Munich: our things are being put up for sale there.
Walk with R. He has had a letter from his sister Cäcilie, who wishes to visit him. We are both unwell; my heart is giving me pain.
After lunch we again play Haydn symphonies. Read part of the foreword to Grimm's mythology. Also read Goethe's Der kluge Rechtsanwalt, very charmed by it. I discuss it with R.; he says that he has rediscovered something of his Chandala maiden in it.
In the evening wrote to Judith and sent off a telegram to Claire.
