Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of December 17, 1874

Overview

Life holds to its familiar pattern of childcare for me and letter-writing for R., with no great event to break the rhythm. Yet the day still carries intellectual movement: a defending letter from Vienna, R.’s pleasure in a book on Christian mythology, and Schopenhauer keeping us company at night.

Content

Thursday, December 17:

The same sort of day; I with the children, R. writing letters to singers, etc.

Letter from Baron Hofmann, defending the W[agner] Society in Vienna.

In the evening Schopenhauer on his own philosophy.

In the morning R. reads by himself a book on Christian mythology by Gfrörer, which pleases him very much.
