Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of September 10, 1874

Overview

The day is shaped by irritation over Herr Hoffmann’s late arrival and the possibility of legal trouble, alongside the resumption of work with the children and R.’s score. Administrative burdens and evening reading fill out a household that is steady in routine but still unsettled by unanswered obligations.

Thursday, September 10:

Herr Hoffmann, the painter, is turned away; he was expected here by August 25 at the latest, but made his appearance only today. Question whether this will lead to a lawsuit.

Today I begin work again with the children; R. works on his score. Letters of various kinds have to be dealt with. In the evening we read Tieck’s fine preface to his Vorschule.
