Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of July 20, 1874

Overview

Work presses on, yet the atmosphere is unsettled by domestic frictions and the absence of any encouraging news from singers. She also makes time for a letter to her father, keeping family ties in view amid the strain.

Content

Monday, July 20:

Frau v. Schl. sends us a photograph of the Menzel watercolor sold in support of Bayreuth: very peculiar! R. works; no further news about singers; domestic unpleasantnesses; in the evening rehearsed Günther with Herr Alexis. (Wrote to my father.)
