Diary Entry of June 22, 1874

Overview

After the bustle of visitors, there is the usual backlog of correspondence and practical catching up, while Wagner returns to work. Reports from Weimar suggest Tristan is captivating even older audiences, and the evening ends quietly with Richter’s company under oppressive heat.

Content

Monday, June 22:

Many things to catch up on, as always after visitors have been here. R. works. News of Tristan in Weimar; friend Alwine Frommann reports that the older people were in particular completely bewitched by it. Nice articles by Frau Merian in the Weimarische Zeitung.

Great heat; we read nothing more in the evening, but keep Richter company for a while.
