Saturday, October 11:
Spent a long time in town looking for birthday presents for Lusch; R. buys her a beautiful medallion. We are just discussing with R. how to arrange our reception today when Baroness Thon comes and says her husband is ill. Another curious experience, another hope, it seems, that has come to nothing.
