Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of July 8, 1873

Overview

Though the bust is finally completed and judged very good, the day is still dominated by work dissatisfaction and public-cultural concerns. R. must redo a page, and the narrator notes political despair in France and courage in Switzerland. A warm letter from Marie Donhoff adds a welcome note of support to an otherwise laboring day.

Content

Tuesday, July 8:

Charming letter from Marie Donhoff with 3 new certificates of patronage. R. works, but is dissatisfied, having to write one page again.

To the new house, the bust is finished, and is really quite good.

In the evening Uhland. (France has become prey to insane bigotry, Switzerland on the other hand very stouthearted.)
