Diary Entry of May 7, 1873

Overview

The day unfolded with lingering setbacks and a sense that luck was absent. Work continued on music and correspondence, while a visit to the new house and an evening with Grimm’s German Language offered some intellectual pleasure. The entry ends in a reflection on myth, history, and the disputed goodness of people, suggesting a mind balancing scholarship with skepticism.
