Diary Entry of September 2, 1872
The journey to Weimar was brightened by festival flags, harvest scenes in Liebenstein, and the evening lights along the way. They reached Weimar late and found the narrator’s father in good health and good spirits, with a pleasant reunion at the Russischer Hof. The day felt festive and affectionate from beginning to end.
Monday, September 2:
We leave at 11 o'clock amid the fluttering of Sedan flags. Fine sight of the harvest festival in Liebenstein; goose boy and shepherd! Bonfires and illuminations. Arrived in Weimar at 9 o'clock.
My father well and pleased. Pleasant time together in the Russischer Hof.
