Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of March 1, 1872

Overview

R. begins the day with a playful comparison between Wotan and Siegfried, then tells me he dreamed of my golden hair. He works, we walk after lunch, and the evening brings letters, including a dear one from Klara that means a great deal because everything connected to R. is precious to me. The day is otherwise quiet, but affectionate and intimate.

Friday, March 1:

R. calls out to me: “What is the difference between Wotan and Siegfried? Wotan married Minna and Siegfried Cosima.” He then tells me he dreamed that I had beautiful golden locks.

He works. We go for a walk after lunch. In the evening we receive letters; I receive a very nice one from R.’s sister Klara, which makes me very glad, for everything that has to do with him is very dear and valuable to me. (Letter from Judith.)
