Sunday, January 21:
Still fine weather; six of us go for a morning walk. In the afternoon we went through the second act of Götterdämmerung.
In the evening we discussed the Werder episode. Our friend means very much to us.
Diary Entry of January 21, 1872
The fine weather continued, and six of us went for a morning walk before turning to the second act of Götterdämmerung in the afternoon. In the evening we talked about the Werder affair, which still mattered a great deal to us. The day felt calm on the surface, but it was held together by shared work, loyalty, and the depth of our friendships.
