Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of December 13, 1871

Overview

Though somewhat unwell, Cosima works with the children before receiving Wagner's telegram that everything has been approved and he is leaving Munich for Bayreuth satisfied. She answers with thanks and later receives his earlier letter about the Lenbach studio sittings. The day is sustained by news of practical success despite the disordered timing of correspondence.

Wednesday, December 13:

Rather unwell, but still strong enough to work with the children. Toward noon a telegram from R. that everything has been approved and he is leaving in great satisfaction for Bayreuth this evening. I cable a word of thanks to him in Munich. Some hours later R.’s letter of Monday; he had not yet heard from me and tells me a lot about his sittings in Lenbach’s studio.
