Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of December 12, 1871

Overview

Reichenhall offers itself as an alternative to Bayreuth with almost comic earnestness, even marking a proposed site on a photograph. Cosima's day is transformed by a heavenly letter from Wagner, reporting satisfaction with Duflipp and sittings for Lenbach. Christmas shopping continues, but she moves through it filled with pride, happiness, longing, humility, and love.
