Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of November 25, 1871

Overview

Wagner sketches a history of the Nibelungen Ring for the fifth volume and is troubled by recurring dreams of departure in which Cosima is meant to accompany him but hesitates. He sends his writings to Wesendonck and Frau Wille while Cosima remains absorbed in Christmas work. The money order still brings no news, and Plato again fills the evening.

Saturday, November 25:

R. is sketching a history of the Nibelungenring for the fifth volume. He now dreams constantly that he is on the point of departure; I am supposed to accompany him but do not really want to—“very melancholy,” he says. He sends his writings to Herr Wesendonck and Frau Wille.

I do nothing but Christmas things. In the evening Plato. No news of my money order.
