Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Carl Brandt

Undated · Bayreuth

Overview

Parsifal is becoming serious, and Wagner asks his old colleague whether he will stand by him again for yearly model performances of all his works, inviting him to visit and stay at Wahnfried.

Letter

Esteemed Friend and Colleague!

It is going to be serious with Parsifal. I inquire of you if you are again willing to stand by me. If I have the necessary means, I shall show in yearly performances how I hope to have all of my works performed.

Will you help me in this? We have shown what we can do; ich muss noch einmal wollen; wollen Sie mit wollen? If so, then I beg of you as the first thing that you will give me the pleasure of a visit as soon as convenient for you; you will be kind enough to stop with me.

With most cordial greetings,

Your faithful old

Richard Wagner.
