Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Anton Pusinelli

June 22, 1872 · Bayreuth

Overview

Enclosing his reply to the spurious "Letter from Victor Hugo," Wagner asks Pusinelli to have it printed in the Brockhaus Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, admits he must take the attack more seriously, and thanks him for coming to the foundation-stone ceremony.

Letter

Dear Anton!

Here you have an answer, which I beg you to have inserted in the Brockhaus Allgemeine Zeitung. You have made me see that I must take this thing more seriously than it seemed to me hitherto!

Let me thank you for your dear letter, and above all for your friendly coming to Bayreuth! I am thinking of seeing you soon again in Dresden.

With most cordial greetings from house to house

Your

Rich. Wagner

I am asking you also to look after a copy of the number in which my letter will appear.
