Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Eliza Wille

March 26, 1870 · Lucerne

Overview

Sending his new brochure About Conducting, Wagner warns that some of it may give offence elsewhere in Zurich, and says he stands to his guns and does not lose heart, though he has lost every hope.

Letter

Dear honoured Friend,

I take the liberty of recalling myself to your memory by sending you a new brochure of mine — this time About Conducting. — Some things in it will interest you. Perhaps, however, some will also give a slight offence — if not exactly in your house, yet elsewhere at Zurich; wherefore I withhold the booklet from another quarter.

You see, I stand to my guns and don't lose heart, though every hope.

With the heartiest greetings and most grateful remembrances,

Your faithful

Richard Wagner.
