Wagner's Letters

Franz Dingelstedt to Richard Wagner

December 30, 1860 · Weimar

Overview

The Weimar intendant reports the great success of Rienzi at the Weimar court theatre over the Christmas holidays and hopes the "Tribune of Weimar" may herald the "Minnesinger of Paris."

Letter

This is to convey, venerable Master, the news of the great success of Rienzi, which has been performed on our stage on the 2nd and 3rd holiday and which has been placed on the repertory for the 6th of the coming month. I enclose a program as well as two modest critical essays of the small local daily and close with the cordial wish that the "Tribune of Weimar" may be a forerunner in miniature for the "Minnesinger of Paris."

In sincere admiration
Your devoted
Fr. Dingelstedt
