. . . I cannot yet say anything definite about my future for the summer. Next month I shall definitely hear from v. Seebach, who is returning from Dresden, what I have to expect in the matter of my amnesty. If everything turns out favorably, I want to do all I can to produce Tristan in Germany (Vienna or Dresden) before the Tannhäuser rehearsals start in Paris. Then—goodbye Switzerland! And you would have to come to Dresden or Vienna if we are to meet. If nothing should come of that (do you wish it so?), then a trip to Switzerland will be my only relaxation this year, and then we shall talk it over thoroughly.
