Dearest Kietz,
Treat the bearer of these lines well. He is a young Pole, Heimberger (from Lemberg), whom I like very much and who is in a bad situation now. You would prove yourself a true friend if you would allow him to live with you: also you will very soon grow fond of him.
If you can otherwise help him by word and deed, don't fail to do it. Perhaps your landlord could procure a passport to London for him.
You may soon learn from him what you most desire to know. You owe me a letter: write me soon.
Farewell! Greetings to Anders, and keep me in your affection!
Your
