Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Ernst Benedikt Kietz

April 25, 1850 · Paris

Overview

Hiding from Minna, who has come to Paris in search of him, Wagner asks Kietz to keep any letters for him and declares that he is retiring into solitude to an undisclosed destination.

Letter

Dear Friend:

If letters addressed to me should be delivered to you, please be so kind as to keep them for the time being. Later on I will write and tell you where to forward them. For good reasons let it right now be my secret where I am going. I am retiring into solitude!

Farewell!

Your
Richard Wagner
