Wagner's Letters

Cosima Wagner to Emil Heckel

Undated · Venice

Overview

Cosima answers Heckel's 'dream' of a Mannheim Lohengrin conducted by Wagner with Therese Malten as Elsa, saying it may yet come true and that Wagner has a great opinion of Malten.

Letter

What a beautiful dream! It certainly means something, and who knows whether it will not yet be fulfilled! The verdict on Fräulein Malten particularly pleased my husband; he has a great opinion of her. So your kind letter was full of good, which we reciprocate with all our hearts.
