Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of April 8, 1871

Overview

Nietzsche leaves after delighting the children with a green snake, and the spring air feels beautiful but draining. Cosima writes letters while Richard drafts material for patrons of the Bayreuth undertaking. Her tiredness turns into dread of the coming journey, which she cannot fully explain.

Saturday, April 8:

Prof. Nietzsche departs, after making the children happy with a green snake. Lovely, but rather enervating spring air. I write letters; R. drafts some lines to be distributed among the patrons of our undertaking.

Great tiredness; why do I so fear this journey?
