Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of September 14, 1870

Overview

Reports of French treachery at Laon confirm Cosima's readiness to believe the worst of France. The day is otherwise narrow and subdued, with lessons for the children, Wagner at work on Beethoven, and persistent bad weather lowering spirits. Henry IV Part II provides the evening's structure.
