Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of July 23, 1870

Overview

Eva remains ill while Claire's letter shows how the war is already reaching friends through military service. Cosima is depressed by reports of French strategic advantages, but Wagner reproaches her for insufficient faith in ideals. The day narrows into caregiving, correspondence, Judith's company, translation of Damayanti and Nala, and evening music from Die Meistersinger.
