Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of June 9, 1870

Overview

Bad June weather prevents Wagner from settling into work and keeps the household subdued. A family lunch is brightened by Loldi’s beauty, which Wagner imagines through figures like Sakuntala and Cenerentola. A drive, a letter to the stranded Kietz, and Wilhelm Meister in the evening provide the day’s modest structure.
