Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of September 7, 1882

Overview

Catarrh, the law-court summons, and the dragging business dispute keep R. in poor spirits even while he continues his letter to the King and takes care to praise the Flower Maidens in it. The day has little comfort to offer beyond cards and stubborn persistence.

Content

Thursday, September 7:

R. had a good night, but he suffers all day from catarrh, and the summons to the law court in October angers him. However, he continues writing his letter to the King and particularly mentions the Flower Maidens. In the afternoon he feels so indisposed that he sends for the doctor. In the evening we play whist, but he is not in good spirits.
