Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of May 9, 1882

Overview

Headache, bad weather, and technical worries at the theater leave R. troubled rather than encouraged as rehearsals advance. The bells impress him, but the larger undertaking still seems precarious on the drive home.

Content

Tuesday, May 9:

R. complains of a headache, and the weather is inhospitable. We receive a nice telegram about Siegfried [in London]. In the afternoon we drive up to the theater, the bells are effective, but R. is beset by great misgivings about it all as we drive home. In the evening various technical problems are discussed with Fritz Brandt.
