Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of May 3, 1882

Overview

Still unsettled from the previous outburst, R. longs above all for silence and calm. A drive to inspect the theater and a lunchtime discussion of Saint Paul are enough for one day, and he fades into weariness by evening.

Content

Wednesday, May 3:

R. is still very upset from yesterday and has a great desire for peace and quiet. At lunch we talk about Saint Paul, whom R. describes as the first Christian. In the afternoon we drive up to the theater; we believe the new facade will look well. In the evening he feels very run down.
