Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of September 15, 1881

Overview

Cold weather set a disagreeable tone for the day, souring Richard's mood as he worked on his article and read aloud cheerful letters of acceptance from singers. He was reluctant to receive French visitors that evening, and the Wolzogens called to share news from their recent travels.

Thursday, September 15:

R. slept well, but it is so cold that he is put out of humor by it; he busies himself with his article, and after lunch reads to us the very nice letters from singers accepting his invitation.

In the evening he has to put on his blue robe, and in consequence he does not wish to receive the French people who send in their cards. The Wolzs visit us and tell us a few things about their journey.
