Monday, October 18:

R. had a good night. But the weather is rough. R. works on his article What Boots This Knowledge?, then goes for a walk, takes delight in everything, including the Manin monument with the cannonballs.

In the afternoon we go for a long stroll with him through the lanes. In the evening we read Schiller poems; Rub. plays to us his Tristan "Picture," and R. then sings the first scene with Kurwenal from the 3rd act.
