Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of February 9, 1870

Overview

The ominous spider image continues as a practical crisis arrives from Munich: the king expects a reply from Wagner through Councilor Duefflipp. With Wagner unwell, Cosima assumes the burden of answering that nothing more can be said. Snow, illness, and correspondence give the short entry a compressed feeling of pressure and isolation.
