Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of April 10, 1880

Overview

A bright spring day brought light travel, errands, and social visits, including time with the Ouroussoffs, the Bagnaras, and the Liechtensteins. R. was amused by a dream about sachets sent to Rohde and by memories tied to Isolde's birthday, giving the day a playful, affectionate tone.

Content

Saturday, April 10:

R. dreamed of some sachets which I prepared and sent to Prof. Rohde in Jena. Great amusement about it, and touching thoughts on Loldi’s birthday. Memories of Tristan! [Inserted in the Diaries a poem by Wagner on Isolde’s birthday, copied in her handwriting; see notes?]

After lunch a drive with R., visits to the Ouroussoffs and the Bagnaras. Before lunch a walk on the terrace in glorious sunshine, buying clothes for Siegfried. In the evening the Liechtensteins, light and pleasant chat.
